Casey Thrasher Makes Us ‘Believe’ With Brooks and Dunn Cover on ‘American Idol’
Season 13 of 'American Idol' is knee deep in the audition phase, where the cream is rising to the top. On Wednesday (Jan. 29), one such contestant was Casey Thrasher, a 22-year-old father of two with a golden voice and a passionate desire to provide for his children by doing what he loves. The Alabaman made us believe with his cover of Brooks and Dunn's 'Believe.'
The fact that the boyishly cut Thrasher wants (and needs) what 'Idol' can offer makes him the kind of contestant the show's core audience absolutely gets behind, since he mixes undeniable talent with a heartwarming story. You can't help but root for him.
Thrasher admitted he met Keith Urban at the CMAs last year.
Then, he strapped on his guitar and delivered a richly toned and emotional version of the classic country song. He brought judge Jennifer Lopez to tears with his beautiful rendition, sharing that he thought about his kids while he performed, further infusing the performance with that authenticity and sincerity.
Thrasher proved to be the unstoppable combination of desire and desperation for a break and pure talent. That could get him far in the competition.
