Cassadee Pope won Season 3 of The Voice on Dec. 18, 2012, and we had to remind her what that was like!

The "Take You Home" singer relived her winning moment live in the studio with us, sharing what was going through her mind as the third place contestant was named and then — finally! — when host Carson Daly announced she'd won.

Spoiler alert: Pope wouldn't have bet on herself.

Nope, the rocker-turned-country-music-singer was counting on the other Team Blake member to be named the winner. She can smile about it all now, but the then-23-year-old looked simply petrified. And then she was petrified as her mother came spilling onto the stage.

Kelly Clarkson asked Pope to be a part of her team during the Season 14 Knockout Rounds. The Knockouts were first instituted during Season 3, and the "Wasting All These Tears" singer says they were the most stressful.

Her advice to current and future contestants? Pope can only recall what worked for her.

“I always say I know I was not the best singer on my season. I know that for a fact. But there is something that happens where you open up and you tell your story,” she tells Taste of Country. “Like I opened up about a few family things on my season, and I wasn't planning on it, but I was just so vulnerable during that experience. I was just very emotional that I let a few things out and as soon as I did I realized people just want to relate."
