Dolly Parton Celebrates ‘Christmas of Many Colors’ Premiere at Dollywood [Pictures]
Dolly Parton and the cast of her new movie Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love came together on Nov. 22 to celebrate its premiere at Parton’s theme park, Dollywood, and each actor looked stunning in their holiday best.
Jennifer Nettles stars as Parton’s mother in the film, as well as its predecessor, Coat of Many Colors, and attended the premiere wearing a winter-inspired white coat trimmed in faux fur overtop a glamorous red dress. She also performed, a photo of which can be seen in the gallery above.
Other attendees include Parton’s mini-me, Alyvia Alyn Lind, who plays Parton in the movies. The adorable young actress looked beautiful in a deep red floral dress and black coat, standing next to her inspiration. Parton — never one to be outdone in the wardrobe department — put a Christmas spin on her outfit with a red velvet blazer over a glitzy green top, but she was sure to pay homage to the movie’s theme with a multicolored patchwork-inspired skirt. Parton can be seen addressing the crowd in one of the photos, though it’s not clear whether or not she performed.
The Christmas of Many Colors movie is the second of three made-for-TV films based on Parton’s life that will run on NBC. Originating with her iconic tune "Coat of Many Colors," the story comes alive in the first film, which details a difficult summer for Parton’s family and the tragedy they endure. Christmas of Many Colors continues the story, portraying the Christmas in which Parton’s father, siblings and she band together to give up their Christmas presents to get her mother the wedding ring he could never afford to give her. Parton even made a cameo in the film as the “town trollop," as she described, someone she admits she modeled her own style after.
“I was so overwhelmed and touched by how many people watched Coat of Many Colors and their reaction to it,” Parton says. “The song 'Coat of Many Colors,' of course, has always been my favorite and has touched so many people through the years, especially me. It is a true story from a very special time in my childhood. I am so happy to share this story with the viewers and to say there is so much more to tell because mine truly has been a life of many colors. I hope the viewers will fall in love all over again.”
Christmas of Many Colors: Circle of Love premieres at 8PM on Wednesday night (Nov. 30) on ABC.
