NFL's Sunday Night Football kicked off last night in East Rutherford, N.J., and Faith Hill debuted her first kickoff theme song of the season. It's the fifth year Hill has performed 'Waiting All Day for Sunday Night' to start the game, and Sunday night's rendition paid a subtle tribute to the day's more significant events.

In the video below, Hill begins in head-to-toe black leather. She dismounts a motorcycle and begins belting out the retooled lyrics of this season's song. Images of the NFL's elite players break up the video, before fans see Hill in mostly white, standing next to the Washington Monument. A circle of American flags surround her, and the Lincoln Memorial sits in the distance. Patriotism was visible elsewhere, most significantly in a shot of players running onto the field through a tunnel of red, white and blue.

The song is performed to the beat of Joan Jett's 'I Hate Myself for Loving You.' Hill's song may not be quite as popular as Hank Williams Jr.'s 'Are You Ready for Some Football,' but after only five years there's little doubt that she's become an important part of the Sunday Night Football experience. As for the game, the New York Jets beat the Dallas Cowboys 27-24.
