The Florida Georgia Line Guys Really Do Value a ‘Simple’ Lifestyle
"Simple" is not only the name of Florida Georgia Line's hit single, it's also a touchstone reminder for the duo's Tyler Hubbard and Brian Kelley to cut through the noise of their busy lives.
While that may sound like lip service, Hubbard notes that he and his family really do make a genuine effort to pare things down and live in the present.
“One of the things that my wife and I do to keep things ‘Simple,’ if you will, in our world, is actually just kind of put away our phones during dinnertime," he explains. "That’s become a new rule that we’ve kind of implemented this year. Just letting that time be strictly non-distracted and present time that we can hang out and catch up and talk and just be together.”
The couple make an effort even when they are out and about. “We both really learned to look forward to those meals, sitting down at a table and putting our phone away," Hubbard asserts. "It really does simplify that time in our life and kind of helps us refocus on what’s important and just kind of feel the pressure of not having our phone with us. The pressure is off of us at that point, so that’s just a lot of fun and that’s a simple example of how we try to implement this song into our life.”
Florida Georgia Line have a busy fall ahead of them, as they are prepping for the opening of their Las Vegas residency this December. The duo are also nominated for Vocal Duo of the Year, Single of the Year and Musical Event of the Year at the 2018 CMA Awards, which air from Nashville on Nov. 14.
