George Strait Is Reissuing ‘Strait Out of the Box: Part 1′
George Strait is giving new life to a series of his career-defining songs.
The country music giant has announced the re-issue of Strait Out of the Box: Part 1, the four-disc compilation featuring a total of 72 songs spanning a defining era in his career. The box set opens with a trio of songs recorded by Strait from 1976-1979 and the rest encompasses songs released from 1981 through 1995. Each composition was handpicked by the singer, and nearly half of the songs on the master set are among his many beloved No. 1 hits such as "You Look So Good in Love," "All My Exes Live in Texas," "Love Without End, Amen" and "Check Yes or No."
A digital component has also been added, with a bundle of Strait's music videos getting a remaster and being serviced to YouTube in high-definition, including "The Chair," "Amarillo by Morning" and "Troubadour," alongside a playlist of songs from Strait Out of the Box: Part 1 & 2 that's available on streaming platforms.
Where Would George Strait Be If Johnny Paycheck Hadn't Gotten Arrested?
Strait Out of the Box: Part 1 — the reissue — will be available exclusively at Walmart on Sept. 13, almost 24 years to the day after its initial release on Sept. 12, 1995.
The reissue of Straight Out of the Box comes on the heels of the superstar's latest album, Honky Tonk Time Machine, which became his 27th No. 1 album after its March 2019 release. Though Strait hung up his hat from full time touring at the end of the Cowboy Rides Away Tour in 2014, he has scheduled a series of stadium dates throughout the year, including a stop at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., on Aug. 17 and a two-night stay at Dickies Arena in Fort Worth, Texas, on Nov. 22 and 23. He's also set for four nights in Las Vegas for his Strait to Vegas residency at the T-Mobile Arena on Aug. 23 and 24 and Dec. 6 and 7.
