Hillary Scott on Her Girls: ‘I’m Overwhelmed by God’s Love for His Children’
Hillary Scott can't help but reflect as her baby girls turn 12 weeks old this week, and she's appreciating the small things in a new Instagram post.
Scott gave birth to twins Betsy Mack and Emory JoAnn on Jan. 29, and she couldn't be more humbled by their presence. The Lady Antebellum star shared a precious photo of her peacefully sitting on the couch, cradling the two little ones in her arms as she looks down at them lovingly.
"So hard to believe it’s been 12 weeks with these little miracles in our arms! Life with these two and their big sis is just the sweetest gift. I’m overwhelmed by God’s love for His children," she writes in the caption.
Scott and her family have been through a lot to get to this point. The singer fell pregnant with the girls after experiencing a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2015 (which inspired her hauntingly beautiful song, "Thy Will.") And though Betsy and Emory were born under the average birth weight of a singleton, as twins often are, they've come a long way since, and their growth and strength is inspiring to their mom.
"I’m a proud Mama bc these girls were 4 lbs 10 oz when they came home ... and now they are nearing 12lbs!!" she continues, using the celebratory hands emoji.
Hillary Scott Opens Up About Heartbreaking Miscarriage
The "Downtown" singer has kept a relatively low profile since giving birth in January, but returned to the spotlight at the 2018 ACM Awards alongside her Lady A bandmates Charles Kelley and Dave Haywood for a performance of their current single, "Heart Break." She'll spend the summer on the road with the band and Darius Rucker on the co-headlining Summer Plays on Tour. Her husband Chris Tyrrell — whose day job is Lady A's drummer — will stay home and take care of couple's new babies and eldest daughter Eisele, 4, while his wife is on tour, a decision they made together.
"We’re both equipping each other to do exactly what we’re supposed to be doing right now. We just came to that agreement together. It was one of the easiest decisions we’ve ever made and the peace that we’ve felt since we made it has just been continual proof of it being the right call," she explains to People Magazine. The Summer Plays on Tour kicks off July 19 in Canada.
