Kacey Musgraves Joins Willie Nelson, Kris Kristofferson for Classic Medley [Watch]
When Willie Nelson gets the whole family together, you know it's going to be a good time, especially if a country legend and burgeoning legend are there join in on the fun.
During a performance at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Aug. 17, Nelson brought members of his real life family, along with his country family, Kris Kristofferson and Kacey Musgraves, onstage to sing a medley of classic country songs "I'll Fly Away," "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?" and even his own hilarious tune "Roll Me Up and Smoke Me When I Die."
With Musgraves and Kristofferson sharing a mic, the gang kicked off the stellar set with Nelson's hit, then diving into a spirited rendition of "Will the Circle Be Unbroken?," which is often performed inside the sacred circle at the historic Grand Ole Opry. They ended with the equally popular 1929 hymn "I'll Fly Away." Musgraves can be seen bopping and clapping along to the energetic tunes with Kristofferson at her side.
Nelson continues his tour for dates through the end of 2017, including his annual Farm Aid concert on Sept. 16. That iconic event will bring out the likes of Neil Young, John Mellencamp, Sheryl Crow, Jamey Johnson, Dave Matthews and several more stars to help raise money for American farmers and their families. The event has brought in more than $50 million for farmworkers since launching in 1985.
“Folks are educating themselves about where and how food is grown — they’re hungry for the truth. Family farmers bring us good food, protect our soil and water, and strengthen our country" Nelson says in a press release. "The Farm Aid concert is a day for us to honor that truth and keep working for family farmers.”
