In an austere moment, Keith Urban delivered an impassioned performance of a song called "Burden" at the 2019 ACM Awards. Urban made the rare decision to perform a song he isn't promoting to radio, instead choosing a song that isn't a new single or upcoming release, but something he felt compelled to sing.

Northern Irish musician Foy Vance wrote and released "Burden" in 2016 on his album The Wild Swan.

"I'm going to be doing a song tonight that is something I heard recently that absolutely spoke to me," Urban shared ahead of Sunday night's show (April 7). "I just love this song."

Little Big Town introduced their friend Urban, noting that the song is meant to help heal anybody who might be feeling particularly burdened.

Accompanied mostly by piano, Urban stood in the middle of the stage, shrouded in darkness as light slowly infiltrated the set during the song. "Let me carry your burden," Urban sang as haunting guitar lines swell in and out of the song. The song eventually crescendoed into a full rocking performance, with Urban delivering one of his most intense vocal performances in a long time.

Urban was up for Entertainer of the Year and Male Artist of the Year at this year's ACMs. He's been nominated in the Entertainer of the Year category a whopping eight times, but has yet to win that particular title at this show.
