Kenny Chesney Announces Big Revival Tour
Kenny Chesney is taking 'The Big Revival' on the road! The singer stopped by 'Good Morning America' on Friday (Oct. 24) to announce that he'll kick off a tour in March.
Chesney has been on a bit of a hiatus from the stage life, but with a hit single in 'American Kids' and a new album that debuted at No. 1, the time is right. The Big Revival Tour will actually kick off on the star's birthday, and he's pumped.
“I can’t think of a better way to celebrate,” he says. “I’ve been ready to get out there for a long time. Now that we’re announced I’m fired up! This new music brings a new energy to the show, and it’s gonna take what we do to a whole other level."
Chesney will kick it up a notch starting March 26 in Nashville, Tennessee. He'll be playing various venues across the country, from stadiums to arenas and amphitheaters. He's also bringing some friends out to play with him, although for now, he's keeping quiet as to who his openers will be.
“We’re going to be mixing up the lineup, too -- different markets will have different acts playing with us," the star shares. "A few will be on all the stadium shows, some doing pieces -- but I promise everybody who’s coming out rocks hard, and understands turning a crowd on.”
Chesney is known for his epic opening acts, which in the past have included stars like Keith Urban, Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood. Like with anything Chesney does, his Big Revival Tour will be about his fans.
“This is really about us and the fans ... the fact that every year, so many people make their summer about coming to see us," Chesney says. "I’ve missed that sense of community and that passion for the music. There’s gonna be some stuff from the new record and songs people haven’t heard in a while. There’s gonna be a whole lot of music and some surprises."
Fans will wait a little longer than normal to learn the tour dates and opening acts, but Chesney swears it will be worth the wait.
“Because of the number of artists we’re pulling into this tour, the roll out is a little trickier, but I think it’s going to be worth the wait and the finding out," he dishes. "Rather than locking in one thing, I wanted to make each market the best it could be. People will be fired up when they see who’s playing where. That means, there’s more news to come ... A lot of our favorite cities are on the list, so are some places we’ve never been. Get ready!”
