Kenny Chesney Reveals Cities, Dates for Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour
Kenny Chesney has announced the cities and dates for a new tour for 2019, and this time around, he's doing things differently. Rather than touring in the massive stadium venues he's been focused on recently, Chesney will take his Songs for the Saints 2019 Tour into some smaller markets and venues for a series of more intimate concerts.
Chesney announced a string of cities and dates on Friday (Nov. 16), including Champaign, Ill., Grand Rapids, Mich., and Tuscaloosa, Ala., with shows scheduled in the Midwest, the South and mid-Atlantic states. It's a very different approach than his 2018 Trip Around the Sun Tour, which focused on shows at stadium venues including Foxborough’s Gillette Stadium and MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
“I wanted to change it up,” Chesney states. “Last year was so intense, and amazing. No Shoes Nation took it to a whole other level, and they blew all of us away. It was the kind of energy you don’t take for granted. So when we started thinking about next year, they made me wanna come to them. Rather than the massive two-day set-up, make everyone come to a stadium away from their homes, I wanted to go to where the fans live ... strip things back a bit, and make it a little more intimate.”
The eight-time CMA Entertainer of the Year is looking forward to giving fans a different concert experience, one that will also be a change for him. The tour kicks off in Louisville, Ky., on April 4.
“We have played the stadium in Louisville several times, but in really looking at this notion, I wanted to give them something more intimate,” Chesney explains. “This tour is going to really feel like a club show — and put the music front and center. It’s why we’re going to Oklahoma City, Albany, Lincoln and Jacksonville next year. Go to No Shoes Nation, and bring them the songs where they live.”
The superstar released his most recent album, Songs for the Saints, in July. The first single from the project, "Get Along," reached No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. His current single is "Better Boat."
