Kip Moore Drives ‘Somethin’ ‘Bout a Truck’ to the ‘Today’ Show
Kip Moore is having quite the year. Between 'Somethin' 'Bout a Truck' spending two weeks at the top of the country chart and a successful summer of touring with Billy Currington and David Nail, Moore is quickly becoming a household name. His latest bout of attention came on America's birthday (July 4), when he made his first-ever appearance on the 'Today' Show.
Before Moore picked up his guitar and gave viewers a rocking rendition of his first No. 1 single, he spent a few minutes chatting with show hosts Kathy Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb. The interview portion of the show was only slightly awkward -- especially when both of the female show hosts showed that they had no qualms about admitting their attraction to Moore. And it's hard to blame them! Sporting a baseball cap over his shaggy hair and flashing a sweet smile, it would be hard for anyone to avoid growing a taste for the newcomer country singer.
Aside from chatting about Moore's good looks, Gifford and Kotb were sure to ask about 'Somethin' 'Bout a Truck,' the song country music fans -- and radio listeners in general -- just can't get out of their heads. Moore was the first to admit that he had no idea the song would get hotter than the southern sun this summer.
"I hoped [it would do well], but you learn to never, like, assume things are gonna happen in Nashville or in music period," Moore said. "I always hoped, and now it's finally happening."
The smitten co-hosts also asked Moore what he thinks about being dubbed "the Hillbilly Springsteen," as one viewer called him. Moore was a little shy about comparing himself to the Boss -- saying he "has not done enough to deserve that" -- so instead, he let his musical talent speak for itself as he launched into the hit song.
The Georgia-born singer's delivery of 'Truck' was so good that he couldn't help himself from smiling the entire time he played. You know you've made it when you're on the 'Today' show, right?
