With one season of American Idol in the books for Luke Bryan, the country star is now looking forward to the next season, and he's making some necessary changes to his schedule.

“When we wrapped, I was hoping they would pick us up again because I felt like we really hit our momentum kind of midway through,” Bryan said in a radio interview before his performance at Country Thunder over the weekend. “I felt like everyone was gelling as a team and our ratings were constantly getting better every week.”

Bryan and his fellow American Idol judges, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie did, in fact, get picked up for another season, which Bryan says might have an effect on his future concert schedule.

Luke Bryan Re-Wrote the Book on Special Fan Moments

“We knew when I took on Idol that it was going to take up a lot of my off season time,” Bryan explains. “Next year, I’m probably going to trim a few dates off the tour. I just kinda need to settle in that mold of not doing 100 shows a year and scale back a hair.”

But don’t despair, fans – Bryan assures everyone that he will certainly keep touring. It’s just that he has to be able to fit in other things into his schedule as his kids grow up.

“I’ve got to start looking at like baseball schedules because my boys are getting to where, in the spring, they are playing baseball,” says Bryan, who also hopes to attend some of his nephew’s football games on Friday nights. “They are old enough to know that Dad’s halfway across the world.”
