Luke Combs Got Exciting News While Making Toaster Strudel: He’s ACM New Male Artist of the Year
Luke Combs was on his tour bus, enjoying a normal morning making toaster strudel when he got a call from Carrie Underwood. In a video shared with fans Monday morning (March 25), Combs learns that he has won the 2019 ACM New Male Artist of the Year award.
At the start of the call, Underwood asks how he's doing only to tell him, "You're about to be even more fantastic."
"I've got some really good news. You are going to the ACMs, right? On April 7th?" she continues. He confirms that he is, and she drops the bomb: "Well you are going there as a winner!"
"Oh, alright," Combs says, chuckling.

After the phone call, Combs asked his crew how they plan surprises so perfectly every time. The video cuts off before we find out if Combs got to finally eat his breakfast.
ACMs also announced on Monday that Ashley McBryde has won for New Female Artist and Lanco have won for New Group — all three new winners will also be performing.
