The Nashville music community is bracing for heavy storms today as tornado watches and warnings have residents on high alert. Several counties were under dangerous Nashville weather warnings earlier this morning, and the Tennessean reports that there is a threat between 2PM CT and 6PM CT Friday night. Tornado watches are in effect across the state until 9PM.

With schools closing early, country stars like Chris Young and Martina McBride are reminding friends and family to stay safe. The floods of 2010 are no doubt on everyone's mind each time a heavy storm rolls into the area. That spring rainstorm killed nearly 30 people and devastated Music City and many other areas across the state. There is nothing to indicate that type of destruction is possible, but nerves will surely be raw as residents take shelter. Stay safe from the weather, Nashville!
