Nicole Kidman Adds Her Support to Women Speaking Out Against Harvey Weinstein
Nicole Kidman is the latest actress to add her support to the growing number of women who are coming forth with allegations of sexual misconduct against film producer Harvey Weinstein.
The Australian Oscar winner, who has worked with Weinstein on seven films, gave a statement to People: "As I’ve stated before publicly, I support and applaud all women and these women who speak out against any abuse and misuse of power — be it domestic violence or sexual harassment in the workforce. We need to eradicate this behavior.”
The disgraced movie mogul has to date been accused of sexual misconduct by more than 20 women over a period of several decades, and is experiencing severe professional and personal fallout as a result. He has reportedly checked into a rehab facility in Arizona.
Kidman recently won an Emmy for her role on the series Big Little Lies, where she plays a victim of domestic abuse. In her acceptance speech, she praised her supportive husband Keith Urban, "whom I asked to help me pursue this artistic path."
Urban is up for three awards at the 2017 American Music Awards, which will be held Nov. 19.
