Randy Houser will not drop his next studio album this Friday as he'd planned to do, but he's okay with it. Magnolia was slated for Nov. 2.

It's now being pushed back to January 11, 2019, per a tweet to ToC writer Billy Dukes. He'd explained the delay last week on Facebook, but didn't know the exact release date at the time.

"We’ve decided to move the release to January 2019 to make sure the music is shared as we originally envisioned," he said on Oct. 23. " I couldn’t be more proud of this album and have been working on something really special to accompany it that I can’t wait for you to check out."

Earlier in the post Houser indicated he had a specific vision for how to launch an album that promises a return to the rootsy, Mississippi blues style he delivered on his first two albums, but got away from on his last two, both with Broken Bow Records.

"I feel like in a lot of ways those two albums were made while I was at summer camp or something," he told Taste of Country in October. "Now I’m back home."

"What Whiskey Does" is Houser's lead single from Magnolia. The collaboration with writer Hillary Lindsey is a soulful country heartbreaker that's representative of what's to follow. In addition, Magnolia includes a collaboration with Lucie Silvas called "Our Hearts."

Houser is best known for hits like "We Went," "How Country Feels" and "Like a Cowboy." He debuted with "Anything Goes" in 2008, but was shuffled through several record labels before signing with BBR.
