Randy Houser Brings ‘What Whiskey Does’ to ‘Jimmy Kimmel’ [Watch]
Randy Houser — accompanied by famed songwriter Hillary Lindsey — took to Jimmy Kimmel Live!'s stage on Tuesday (Feb. 5) to perform their collaboration "What Whiskey Does."
The duo performed for an intimate in-studio audience, as well as a nation at home. Houser belted the first line of the song a capella and went into the song with soul-driven passion. Performed live, it's easy to see how this song infuses country and soul.
"What Whiskey Does" acts as the lead single off Houser's album Magnolia, which released last month.
Houser is having quite a busy week, also making an appearance in Los Angeles for another prestigious opportunity, performing the Grammy Museum Mississippi Presents, 'A Night On The River' on Feb. 7.
Magnolia is a product of Houser's take on the blue-collar life in his home state, Mississippi (also known as the Magnolia state.) The album was two years in the making focusing his guitar craft and co-writing every song. Lindsey isn't only his duet partner, but also co-writer on the record. You may recognize Lindsey's name from her more than twenty No. 1 hits from both country and pop artists (Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Lady Gaga, Avicci, etc.)
To coincide with the album and give a visual component to fans, Houser has also created a film for which he serves as executive producer. Magnolia will bring the lyrics off the album to life in a new way for fans and feature several live acoustic performances. More details on the Mississippi-inspired film will be announced in the coming weeks.
