Rascal Flatts' ABC special aired this past Saturday night with Justin Bieber, and Gary LeVox says he may be "in the running for dad of the year" now that his two young daughters, 10-year-old Brittany and 6-year old Brooklyn, got to hang out with Biebs behind the scenes.

Last August, the country star's eldest daughter had only one request for her tenth birthday, saying, "Daddy, can Justin Bieber come to my birthday party?" No one in Rascal Flatts knew the teen heartthrob back then, so, as LeVox tells PEOPLE, "We got her this cardboard cutout of him."

Six months later, the doting dad made good on her request, and she got to meet the real thing! Bieber asked the band to sing on a tune with him, the recently released 'That Should Be Me,' and LeVox was able to bring his two young daughters along. He said that if he hadn't set up a meeting, “I wouldn’t have been able to go home!”

When the girls met the teen idol, LeVox says that "they flipped out -- Brittany ended up singing one of his songs to him. He was hugging them and was so sweet to them."

LeVox also has a confession to make publicly: "I’ve even got a low-grade Bieber fever."
