Rascal Flatts’ Jay DeMarcus: ‘Let This Eric Church Thing Go’
Rascal Flatts' Jay DeMarcus has made something very clear: he wants to take their hit 'Here Comes Goodbye' and make it the mantra of the trio's rift with country rocker Eric Church.
The Flatts have been linked with Church for years now, most famously because they kicked him off their 2006 tour for playing too long. It's a story that seemed to simmer down as time passed, until superstar Taylor Swift brought it up while accepting her Pinnacle Award at the 2013 CMAs.
The superstar was asked to step in and fill the opening act slot when Church was sent packing, which obviously worked in her favor. Church -- who was given the gift of Swift's first Gold record as a thanks -- then grabbed hold of the star's speech and used it as a teaser for his new album, which really piqued the interest of fans.
Recently, the Flatts even chatted about the incident on radio, detailing their side of the story. Apparently, the group gave 'The Outsiders' singer four tries before he got the boot from their headlining tour so many years ago. Like a true outlaw, Church admits he was simply sick of following rules.
But now, DeMarcus is sick of fielding comments, questions and speculation about the Flatts vs. Church drama, because as he puts it, there's really no drama at all. He took to Twitter, stating his views once and for all:
Although it's ancient history, it still is history, but if the Flatts get their wish, the ordeal will gather dust in the country music history books for a long while.
