Reba McEntire Congratulates Jessica Simpson on New Baby
The arrival of Jessica Simpson's baby has transcended the pop world. Even country stars are taking notice of the fact that Simpson has finally given birth. On Wednesday, Reba McEntire congratulated 31-year-old pop singer, who put out a country album in 2008 (though her twang career was short-lived).
"Congrats to Jessica Simpson on the birth of her new baby! So happy for you all!" McEntire tweeted on Wednesday afternoon.
Simpson's daughter, Maxwell Drew Johnson, was born on May 1. The little girl was an unusually big baby, coming in at 9-pounds, 13-ounces. The father is Simpson's fiance Eric Johnson, who used to be a tight end for the San Fransisco 49ers in the NFL. The pair have been engaged since Nov. 2010. Maxwell Drew is their first child together.
In addition to her country album, Simpson played with the country audience in the mid-to-late 2000s, starring as Daisy Dukes in the 2005 remake of 'The Dukes of Hazzard' alongside Willie Nelson as Uncle Jessie. She also toured with Rascal Flatts in early 2009.
