Runaway June Releasing Self-Titled Debut EP
Fresh off the news that they would be joining Carrie Underwood on her Cry Pretty Tour 360 in spring of 2019, Runaway June has announced plans for the Sept. 7 release of their self-titled debut EP.
“This is a group of songs that really expresses us as a band,” says Runaway June’s Naomi Cooke about the new EP. “We have been working on this project for two years and so many life changes have happened to us as people, and now more than ever we have songs that tell the stories of those moments.”
“The EP is a really fun and diverse look into our sound as a band,” adds Runaway June’s Hannah Mulholland. “It incorporates the fun of the live show, but also shows some soft moments that fans can relate to.”
The band — which is composed of Cooke, Mulholland and John Wayne's granddaughter Jennifer Wayne — worked on the project with famed producer Dann Huff, who has previously worked with a slew of country artists such as Keith Urban, Thomas Rhett and Brett Young.
“Dann Huff has changed our lives,” says Wayne in a press release about the new EP. “He’s completely zoned in our sound. He’s so collaborative and he’s such a joy to work with.”
The country trio and 2017 Taste of Country RISERS have given fans their first taste of their EP via their new single “Buy My Own Drinks,” which was released to country radio on Monday (Aug. 20.) The song was written by all the members of Runaway June alongside songwriters Hillary Lindsey and Josh Kear. The new EP will also include a cover of Dwight Yoakam's "Fast as You," which they performed during the RISERS video shoot.
