Sam Hunt’s the Nashional Music Festival Is Canceled
The Nashional Music Festival, a multi-genre event Sam Hunt curated in Nashville, has been canceled due to "unforeseen circumstances."
"Although disappointed to share this news, we hope to find a future date to continue the prospect of a multi-genre, inclusive festival for the city of Nashville," organizers write in an announcement on the festival's official website on Tuesday (March 13). Refunds are available at point of purchase.
The Nashional was originally scheduled for Nashville's Bicentennial Capitol Mall the weekend of April 20-21. Hunt hand-selected each act that would be performing and wasn't bluffing when he said it would be multi-genre, offering fans quite an eclectic mix of artists ranging from folk to rap. The lineup included fellow country acts Brothers Osborne and Lanco in addition to Fetty Wapp, folk group Judah & the Lion, rapper Kyle, indie pop band Lany and Quinn XCII.
You Think You Know Sam Hunt?
Hunt knows a thing or two about crossing genre borders himself, bringing elements of rap and hip-hop into his own music on tracks like "Take Your Time" and "Body Like a Back Road," citing artists from Alan Jackson to R. Kelly as his influences growing up in rural Georgia.
Hunt recently stated he hopes to have new music to share his music with fans when he joins Luke Bryan beginning May 31 for stadium dates on his expansive 2018 What Makes You Country Tour, which also brings Carly Pearce, Morgan Wallen and Jon Pardi along for dates throughout the U.S. and Canada. The venues they'll visit include Fenway Park in Boston, Chicago's Wrigley Field and Dodger Stadium.
Hunt will also headline at the 2018 Taste of Country Music Festival, which returns to Hunter Mountain in Hunter, N.Y., from June 8-10. Eric Church and Florida Georgia Line are the other headliners in 2018.
