Sara Evans is teaming up with classic rockers REO Speedwagon for an upcoming episode of CMT Crossroads.

The country singer-songwriter is a veteran of the show, which pairs country singers with artists from across other genres. She teamed with Maroon 5 in 2008 and took part in the Joe Walsh and Friends episode in 2012. She got together with Speedwagon through a mutual friend.

"We met Sara Evans when REO played with Brad Paisley at the Sony Music Nashville annual cruise and we all became fast friends,” REO singer Kevin Cronin says in a press release.  “When we got the offer to do CMT Crossroads with her we jumped at the chance to hear Sara's sweet voice on our songs, and to put our spin on hers. Sara put me at ease right away and her energy is contagious."

For her part, Evans is excited about the collaboration.

“I’ve been a huge fan of REO Speedwagon for as long as I can remember,” she reveals. “Their songs have been a part of the soundtrack of my life and I’m thrilled to be joining them on stage for CMT Crossroads. It truly is a dream come true!"

She and Cronin are already working on ideas for the show, which will tape in Nashville on Aug. 18 and air on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10PM on CMT.

"Kevin and I are having a blast, talking and texting, working on the songs — which songs we’re going to do and who's going to sing which part," Evans says. "I can’t wait to share what we’ve come up with and to get on that stage.”
