Scotty McCreery Gives Fans Nostalgic New Song, ‘Home in My Mind’ [Listen]
Scotty McCreery has been taking fans on a journey of his personal growth, song by song, with his upcoming album, Seasons Change—and the fourth single he's released from the project, "Home in My Mind," reveals yet more about his newly matured mindset.
The song explores the bittersweet feeling of longing to be home when out on the road...and how it's going to take a little longer to get back than McCreery would like, but he's got all the comforting images right there in his head.
As the chorus goes: "I'm going home in my mind / Cruisin' by them Carolina pines / Taking it slow down 35 / Down timber drive / I can already feel your hand in mine / Sweet tea porch swing supper on the stove / Everything I've been missing on the road / I can't be there tonight / But when I close my eyes / I'm going home in my mind."
Seasons Change is McCreery's first album release since 2013's See You Tonight. The lead single "Five More Minutes" is a poignant track that honors the memory of his late grandfather Bill McCreery. He's also shared "In Between" and "Wherever You Are," the latter inspired by his fiancee, Gabi Dugal. The singer co-wrote all 11 songs on the album.
"In the last five years, I have grown from a teenager to a man, moved out on my own, lost my grandfather, proposed to the love of my life, and learned more about myself than I could have imagined,” McCreery says of the project. "This all shows up in the 11 songs on Seasons Change, and I cannot wait to share this music with my fans after such a long time between releases."
Seasons Change is set for release on March 16.
