No, Taylor Swift Didn’t Leave Her House in a Suitcase
Just when you think you've heard it all, Taylor Swift becomes the subject of another viral headline. The internet went wild on Monday (July 17) on the back of claims that Swift — who is in between albums and has not been active in the public eye — left her New York City apartment building by way of suitcase.
A radio station called Spin 1038 in Ireland was first to notice a questionable caption on new photos posted by Splash News that read, verbatim:
Taylor Swift has been reportedly being transported in a huge suitcase from her Tribecca apartment into her truck. A fleet of cars including two large cadillacs and three suv's arrive at Tailor Swift's apartment in Tribecca to move a large suitcase from apartment to truck. Almost a dozen of Taylor Swift security guards were present to move this package carefully as Taylor Swift remains to be unseen for a long time.
The images show two men loading a large black suitcase with wheels into a black SUV while a third man watches on, making eye contact with paparazzi in a few of the shots. There's nothing to indicate that Swift had any involvement one way or another — her only tie to the photos is that the box reportedly came from her building.
Splash News later retracted their original caption and replaced it with the following: "Taylor Swift's security guards are seen moving a huge case into the trunk of an awaiting SUV," but not before the internet took the initial post and ran with it.
Swift is said to be working her sixth studio album, and her fans are (clearly) hungry for news. In June, she reached 10 million in sales for her first pop album 1989, and to celebrate, released her full catalog to streaming services, including Spotify.
