Tyler Hubbard Shows Off New Tattoo After Meaningful Trip to Africa
Tyler Hubbard and his wife, Hayley, time in Africa recently, and the Florida Georgia Line singer marked the occasion with some permanent ink.
Hubbard is now sporting a detailed elephant tattoo, which took 12 hours to complete. "I love these unbelievable animals and everything they represent," he says in a post on Instagram that also calls out the tattoo artist. "Thanks @bundutattoo for making this a special piece even if it was the longest session ever for the both of us."
The stunning ink is located on the lower part of his left arm. A large elephant which appears to be roaming takes up his entire arm below the elbow.
Hubbard and his wife have spent a good deal of time in Africa in recent years. This most recent trip was part of UCSF Center for Global Health, where they learned more about advancing health equity through nursing. The program is helping to lead the GAIN Initiative to provide mothers and infants in Malawi safe childbirth as mothers have a 1 in 26 lifetime risk of dying in childbirth in Neno Malawi.
Their journey to Africa not only had a profound impact on the couple, but those they were there to help — while in Malawi, a woman asked them to help name her day-old baby. They chose Olivia, after their own daughter.
"After hearing her story and telling her that we would be praying for her and her family she told us she would love for us to name her baby so she would never forget us. Wow, powerful and emotional moment," Hubbard says.
Florida Georgia Line have some time off from touring before their Las Vegas residency starts in December. The duo recently added another opener to the roster, Canaan Smith.
