All music fans know that the hippest of the hip congregate out in the Southern California desert every April for the biggie of all music festivals, Coachella. And so, it was quite the milestone for the yodeling Walmart Boy Mason Ramsey to show up there on the first night of the fest, among all the celebs, flower crowns, and tribal fashion.

Ramsey, 11, was invited to grace the Coachella stage alongside DJ Whethan on Friday afternoon to perform his rendition of Hank Williams' “Lovesick Blues." Apparently, he delivered this to an audience that included Justin Bieber, as well as your garden variety of discerning festival-goers.

And there you go. The first viral meme of Coachella 2018. Forget Beyoncé. If you didn't see Walmart Boy, it didn't happen.

Where did this all begin? Well, Ramsey's fame started in a home goods aisle at Walmarts in Illinois and Kentucky, and once a video of his prowess started to be shared, fans started clamoring for more from the little boy they call Lil' Hank. Comparisons to Hank Williams were made because of his song choices (often old Hank songs), his outfits and his yodel.

The little boy says he got a hankering for Hank while listening to his grandfather's old albums out in the garage — a video at radio station Beaver 100.3's YouTube page reveals that Ramsey has lived with his grandparents since he was three weeks old. The Clarksville, Tenn., couple were early supporters, first recognizing his talents in 2017.
