Blake Shelton Tops the Charts With ‘God Gave Me You’
Blake Shelton's week is off to a good start, as the singer has claimed the No. 1 slot on Billboard's country singles chart this week with his latest hit, 'God Gave Me You.'
"I appreciate everyone's hard work and dedication these last few years, and [I] am glad it has happened to me now, when I can truly appreciate what it means," Shelton said in a statement following the news. "I wouldn't change one thing ... this is perfect."
The tune is the second song from his newly released 'Red River Blue' album to top the charts. The album's lead single, 'Honey Bee,' spent an impressive four weeks at the No. 1 position back in June and July.
The victory of having another No. 1 song on his resume left Shelton feeling reminiscent of how far he's come since making the move to Nashville.
"I was 17 when Larry and Carol Large drove away and left me in Nashville," Shelton tweeted on Monday morning.
"Now 17 years later 'God Gave Me You' becomes my 10th #1 song!!!! Thank you all ... Congrats to [songwriter] Dave Barnes!!!!! One last thing ... Don't be afraid to try something," he continued.
Previous chart toppers for Shelton throughout his career include 'Austin,' 'The Baby,' 'Some Beach,' 'Home,' 'She Wouldn't Be Gone,' 'Hillbilly Bone,' 'All About Tonight,' 'Who Are You When I'm Not Looking' and 'Honey Bee.'
