Blake Shelton Slays ‘CMA Fest’ With Powerful ‘God’s Country’ Performance [Watch]
Blake Shelton took the stage during the 2019 CMA Music Festival in Nashville to deliver a stunningly powerful performance of his most recent No. 1 hit, "God's Country."
Shelton hit the stage at his Ole Red bar and performance venue in downtown Nashville, delivering a scorching version of the song accompanied by Devin Dawson, who wrote the song along with Jordan Schmidt and Hardy. Shelton exploited the highest, most intense part of his vocal range as he delivered the chorus, which pays tribute to the rural way of life that he and so many of his fans grew up on.
"I saw the light in the sunrise / Sittin' back in the 40 on the muddy riverside / Gettin' baptized in holy water and shine / With the dogs runnin' / Saved by the sound of the been found / Dixie whistled in the wind, that'll get you Heaven bound / The Devil went down to Georgia, but he didn't stick around / This is God's country," he sings in the chorus.
