No matter what the outcome of 'The Voice' season finale on Tuesday night, Jermaine Paul has left a strong impression on the show's coaches -- and perhaps more importantly, television viewers at home. The longtime Alicia Keys backup singer made his case to be crowned champion with three superb performances, including a duet of 'Soul Man' with Blake Shelton.

His first song may have been the most memorable of the night, however. Even Christina Aguilera -- who's admittedly a tough sell -- was brought to her feet after his soaring performance of 'I Believe I Can Fly.' Dressed in a sleek white coat, Paul was flanked by an army of angels with string instruments and heavenly vocals. From the first note, it was clear the song would be special.

The New York-born singer seemed equally comfortable during his tribute song to his coach. He chose Shelton's 'God Gave Me You,' a song that was originally a hit on Christian radio. This was a clever move by Paul. It wouldn't have been believable watching him sing 'Hillbilly Bone,' or even 'Austin.' The choice could easily resonate with fans outside of the country music genre, no doubt earning him a few more precious votes.

Near the end of Monday night's two-hour 'The Voice' broadcast, Shelton and Paul took the stage to sing 'Soul Man' together. By this, point the soul singer -- now dressed down in a white t-shirt and black leather jacket -- was playing with house money. He was loose and confident as he traded verses with Shelton. The duo toyed with the band like old pros before finishing to a standing ovation.

America will learn if Paul, rocker Juliet Simms, opera singer Chris Mann or former Mousketeer Tony Lucca will be crowned 'The Voice' champion during tonight's 'The Voice' finale, which begins at 9PM ET on NBC. Team Blake's contestant did all he could do to put himself in position to be named the winner. If another name is called, he has nothing to regret.
