Brad Paisley, Darius Rucker Lead Hurricane Relief Version of ‘With a Little Help from My Friends’ [Watch]
Brad Paisley and Darius Rucker asked for help with a classic version of the Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" on Tuesday night during the Hand in Hand: A Benefit for Hurricane Relief broadcast. A quartet of singers replicated the Joe Cocker version of the song.
The soulful guitar jam also included Demi Lovato and CeCe Winans. Each took a turn as lead vocalist before Rucker dominated the later portions as Paisley wailed on his electric guitar. The rousing rendition of a song appropriate for the cause brought Nashville's Grand Ole Opry crowd to their feet. Then, Tim McGraw and Faith Hill stepped to the stage to remind viewers that Nashville could relate with what was happening. It was seven years ago their city (including the Grand Ole Opry) was flooded.
Tuesday night's hurricane relief broadcast is an all-network fundraiser for victims of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. Blake Shelton performed earlier in the night, and Luke Bryan was among those seen taking phone calls. Dozens of celebrities from all forms of entertainment answered phones and spoke with emotion about the circumstances, survivors and first responders.
