Brett Young sports quite a bit of ink, giving a slightly different edge to his all-American good looks. The rising country star tells Taste of Country that each of his tattoos carries a very significant personal meaning for him.

The "In Case You Didn't Know" singer has the words "if it feels like home follow its path" inked onto his right forearm, which he reveals comes from a quote from poet R.M. Drake that he has paraphrased.

"It's really hard to chase a lofty dream," he states, adding that like many kids, he grew up wanting to be a pro baseball player, which he pursued until an injury changed his plans. He then turned his attention to music.

"Well, that's just as unlikely, if not more unlikely. I don't know what it is in me that refuses to quit, but I think it's kind of like, dare to dream," Young shares. "If something's gonna make you happy, and you know it's gonna make you happy, and it's what you want more than anything in the world, don't let someone else discourage you and talk you out of doing it just because they're doubters."

His left arm bears the slogan, "Where words fail," which he shortened from "Where words fail, music speaks." He says that one is a testament to the power of songwriting and its ability to touch others.

It's certainly working for the rising star. His debut single, "Sleep Without You," was a runaway hit, and his upcoming debut album is one of the most-anticipated albums of 2017.

That album is set for release on Friday (Feb. 10). "In Case You Didn't Know" is the second single from the EP that preceded that project.
