Jason Aldean: Back-to-Back Entertainer of the Year Wins Is ‘As Big as It Gets’
There's no way around it. Jason Aldean really wanted to win his second straight ACM Award for Entertainer of the Year, but he knows all four of the other nominees wanted it just as badly. While the singer said he was at a "loss for words" backstage, he also shared that any "nice to be here" talk is kind of a fib.
"We all want to win," Aldean said (quote via Country Aircheck). "Everybody can come up here and blow smoke up your ass, 'It’s just nice to be nominated.' Whatever. I can promise you every one of them wanted to win. But we're also friends and root for each other."
Aldean topped Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Carrie Underwood and Keith Urban for his second straight win. "To get it back-to-back years," he said after the show, "for me my live shows and that part of what I do is just such an important part of my business. To me, that's as big as it gets. To win it once I was extremely happy and very honored and to win it back-to-back years, I'm at a loss for words."
Chris Young, Kane Brown and Dee Jay Silver will join Aldean on his They Don't Know Tour beginning April 27 in Toledo, Ohio. They Don't Know is also the title of his most recent album, released last September. During his acceptance speech for the Entertainer of the Year he thanked the other nominees, his wife, daughters, country radio and presenter Joe Walsh.
