Kacey Musgraves Nabs Song of the Year Award at the 2014 CMA Awards
In a win that surprised everyone (even her!), Kacey Musgraves took home the 2014 CMA Award for Song of the Year for her hit song, 'Follow Your Arrow.'
"Oh my goodness!" the singer gushed as she took the stage to accept her award from Darius Rucker and footballer Tim Tebow. "Do you guys realize what this means for country music?"
Backed by co-writers Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally, Musgraves looked genuinely surprised to win in a category against huge names like Dierks Bentley (who was nominated for 'I Hold On') and Miranda Lambert (nominated for 'Automatic').
"Our genre was built on simple, good songs about real life and that's what this is," she said. "Our fans took it and spread it farther than I could have ever imagined so thank you so much."
Well if there's one person who wasn't surprised by Musgraves' win, it was Eric Church. The country star (who was also nominated in this category) gave her a standing ovation as she took the stage -- and he even stayed standing during her acceptance speech. How's that for supporting your fellow nominees?!
