Ludacris Weighs in on Carrie Underwood’s Recovery Following Fall: ‘She’s Very Strong’
After performing "The Champion” live with Carrie Underwood for the first time on Friday (June 22) onstage at the 2018 Radio Disney Music Awards, Ludacris weighed in on the country star's recovery from a fall late last year.
" ... Everybody has difficulties and she’s definitely one, like, I would say about 95 percent better," he says in an interview with Entertainment Tonight. "She’s very strong. Anybody that has a strong will and a strong mind, they’ll be able to bounce back."
Underwood suffered a broken wrist and had to get stitches in her face after falling at her home in Nashville in November. She stayed out of the public eye while she healed, making her victorious return to the spotlight when she performed her new single, "Cry Pretty," at the 2018 ACM Awards.
"The Champion" Carries a Powerful Message for Many Fans
The very same strength she displayed in her recovery is the theme of “The Champion,” a song that has served as an inspiration to many since its release earlier this year.
"It’s a powerful message in the song so we want to make sure everybody hears it," Ludacris explains. "Anybody that’s going through any type of struggle, or people that need positive motivation and inspiration, that’s literally what this song is about. Everybody is a champion in their minds and in their hearts and sometimes you go through difficulties and you have to remind yourself how much of a champion you are."
Underwood also hit the red carpet with Kelly Clarkson and accepted the 2018 Hero Award at the RDMAs, recognizing her various charitable contributions throughout the years.
“Thank you fans for the constant love and support that you guys give me,” she said in her acceptance speech. “This is truly an honor. We have all been blessed with gifts we can use to make the world a better place.”
Underwood will release a new album, also titled Cry Pretty, on Sept. 14.
