Luke Bryan is back with a brand new single called "Light It Up" — the lead song from a new album that's coming sooner than you think. Bryan hinted at a holiday release date during a visit to the Bobby Bones Show on Wednesday (Aug. 23).

"Let's just say after Thanksgiving, before Christmas," he says with a sly grin. "I wish I could play it for everyone!"

By saying very little, Bryan revealed a lot. Before Christmas, but after Thanksgiving offers very few release dates — likely Dec. 1 or Dec. 8.

All About Luke Bryan's New Single, "Light It Up"

The singer has been playing some of his new music out for lucky fans at his VIP meet and greets, but he admits that his team isn't too happy when he shares new music. The real reason for their frustration is that immediately following fan performances, the new tunes show up on YouTube.

"The biggest problem is me performing new songs at my VIP meet and greets," Bryan admits. "I get yelled at severely."

The official new single, "Light It Up," was a co-wrote with Bryan and Brad Tursi from Old Dominion. The superstar shares that it was actually his first co-write in a new music room he had built at his home. Bryan says Tursi had the line, "I get so neurotic about it, baby," and it developed from there.

"Well, you never heard neurotic in a country song. People would ask me, 'Do you think that word needs to stay?' It's an interesting word," Bryan admits.

"Light It Up" finds Bryan on edge, questioning why his girl hasn't responded to his text message. As he gets ready for his day he keeps checking his phone, but it's always the same thing: nothing. It's a modern-day country song for certain, as it nods to today's technology-savvy generation. Bryan notes that his nieces and nephews are always on their cell phones.

“Light It Up” is the follow up single to “Fast,” which became Bryan's 18th career No. 1 single. The success of "Fast" off Bryan's Kill the Lights album had the singer making Billboard chart history, as he became the only artist in the 27-year history of the Billboard Country Airplay chart to have six No. 1 singles from one album.
