Luke Bryan's new single "Light It Up" has him begging an ex to "light up" his cell phone. The singer captures the neurosis of heartbreak.

Bryan remains very progressive with a single that can be compared to "Strip It Down." Heavy drum loops dominate the early verse before more organic instruments enter during a soaring chorus. Aside from the new topic, there's little that separates this song from his tried-and-true recent hits.

Old Dominion's Brad Tursi helped Bryan write "Light It Up," a dark reference to a very modern habit the lost ex-lover takes on. It used to be that you'd find an excuse to drive by her house or show up at her work. Now it's waiting for the buzz of a cell phone in your jean pocket. The sad hope for a message that is never coming is timeless, no matter the device. "Light It Up" is familiar, whether you want to admit it or not.

Did You Know?: With "Light It Up," Bryan is looking to extend a streak of 10 straight No. 1 hits.

What Is Luke Bryan's Best Song Ever? You Choose!

Luke Bryan's "Light It Up" Lyrics:

I open my eyes, reach for the phone / Not a word from you baby / It don’t leave my sight since we had that fight / Can’t remember but maybe / I blew you up / In the middle of the night again / You were drinking with your friends / You ignored it but you got it.

Chorus:
I get so neurotic about it baby / ‘Cause I know you’re reading your phone / I can’t help from going crazy / Thinking you might not be all alone / I wake up, I check it / I shower and I check it / I feel the buzz in my truck / And I almost wreck it / I always got it on me / Just in case you want me / So, if you’re looking for my love / Then light it up.

Every time I unlock my screen / I hope I see one of them red lipstick ‘I miss you’ pictures / I’m on your clock, you’re in control / You want me now baby go figure / My worlds at the tips of your fingers.

I go to sleep, I check it / In the middle of the night, I check it / I feel the buzz in my bed / And I don’t get no rest / I always got it on me / Just in case you want me / So, if you’re looking for my love / Then light it up.
