Luke Bryan’s Chili Dog Christmas Tradition With His Mama Is Probably His Favorite
Luke Bryan and his mom don't spend their time cooking Holly Jolly Turkey or Christmas ham during the holidays. They're all about the chili dogs.
During a stop at the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Bryan took his time to explain his favorite Christmas tradition.
"My mother and I, we kind of said, let's do chili dogs on Christmas Eve," Bryan says. "She's turning it into an all-day event. It's always been, 'Luke it's 11, now we gotta go do our chili dog shopping,'' and she takes me to the grocery store and it's just her time to have with me."
"She has this chili recipe that she spends so much time on it ... I think some of her cigarette ashes land in it," he adds, laughing. "Sorry, mama."
Fallon muses that the cigarette ashes must be the "secret ingredient," but Bryan is willing to elaborate on the full recipe: "You cover the hot dog up completely with chili and you take oyster crackers — you know, the little Saltines — they're called scramble dogs. It's silly."
"The next morning, Christmas morning around the tree, you're not happy about what happened," he jokes. "I can't believe I just said that!"
Bryan released his album, the 15-track What Makes You Country, on Dec. 8 and is also a judge on the upcoming season of American Idol, which will air in March 2018 on ABC. Bryan will be joined by host Ryan Seacrest and fellow judges Lionel Richie and Katy Perry on the show.
