Old Dominion Take Home 2019 CMA Awards Vocal Group of the Year
Old Dominion were announced as the winner of Vocal Group of the Year at the 53rd annual CMA Awards on Wednesday night (Nov. 13). The country band consisting of Matthew Ramsey, Trevor Rosen, Brad Tursi, Whit Sellers and Geoff Sprung were presented with their trophy by The Bachelorette alum Hannah Brown alongside Morgan Wallen and Cody Johnson.
Old Dominion are no strangers to this category, as they also left the Bridgestone Arena in Nashville with the honor of being Vocal Group of the Year in 2018. The chart-topping country stars and Sony Nashville recording artists looked absolutely stunned when their name was announced for all of America to hear.
"I just, tonight, keep thinking about how back in the day, we used to operate under this really strange mantra of self-preservation," Ramsey told the fans. "Any time anything good would happen to us, we would look at each other and say, 'This was never going to work anyway.' But tonight, when I look out and think of all the people that we have had that have supported us and believed in us and pushed us and loved us, we should have been saying, 'Of course we're going to make it.'"
Prior to their big win at the 2019 CMA Awards, Old Dominion performed their newest single, "One Man Band," live from Nashville. The fan-favorite track is a Top 5 and climbing single.
"Thank you to all of you who have believed in us and keep pushing us," Ramsey exclaimed. "This is such an amazing thing to be a part of. Thank you all."
Old Dominion released their self-titled third studio album in October. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums chart. Old Dominion produced the album with longtime collaborator Shane McAnally.
