Pistol Annies’ New Album Is Complete, Actually
After much anticipation, it has been confirmed that the Pistol Annies' new album is complete.
Angaleena Presley reveals to the Boot that she and her Annies partners Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe have finished recording at least an album's worth of new material, saying: "We just finished our third record."
The new music doesn't have a release date yet, but "the record is there," Presley adds. It was finished two weeks prior to the Boot's interview, published July 23.
The excitement for new Annies music started when Lambert revealed in the summer of 2017 that the trio were planning to release an album in 2018. Nearly six months later, she hinted that she was writing new Annies music. In February 2018, Lambert said that that group wasn't "close yet" to finishing an album, but that the songs were "very much in the spirit of the Annies."
Then, in March, Lambert invited her Annies bandmates onstage during a show on her Livin' Like Hippies Tour, where they sang "Heart Like Mine" and "Hell on Heels." In May, Lambert shared on social media that she was enjoying a pool day and writing session, which she followed with a photo of all three Annies on Twitter and Instagram in July.
"Sangin' some songs," she wrote.
Monroe also spoke out about the reunion during this time, telling the Boot in April, "We'll be going into the studio soon. We've been writing, and we've written some of my favorite songs I've ever written in my life. We went to Miranda's farm last week and really hunkered down and got some good stuff."
If their previous two albums are an indication of what to expect on project No. 3, the Pistol Annies will find success again. Both Hell on Heels and Annie Up hit No. 5 on the Billboard 200 and scored the group a multitude of critical acclaim.
