A longtime Taylor Swift fan got the surprise of a lifetime when the superstar showed on her doorstep unannounced -- and bearing gifts.

Stephanie Barnett connected with Swift years ago via social media. She tells NBC Connecticut that Swift's music helped her get through a difficult time when she was having trouble conceiving.

Barnett is now the mother of a 2-year-old son, Leyton. When she went to answer her front door on Thursday (Nov. 13), she found the worldwide-adored singer standing on her doorstep.

"I open the door and she's like, 'Hey, Steph!' and it's just her right there, and I lost it," Barnett says. "I lost it for a while."

Swift was stopping by to personally deliver some gifts she had purchased for Barnett's son, including a kid-sized toy Mercedes.

"She went to FAO Schwartz and got a bunch of stuff for Leyton," Barnett explains. "The car was so big, she's like, 'I don't know how to ship it, so I kinda thought I'd bring it over.' And I was like, who does that? It's incredible."

Barnett had heard of Swift buying gifts for fans, but knew the superstar doesn't usually show up to deliver them in person.

"She's unbelievable. The things she does for her fans, and she's a really amazing person. She's gotten a lot of people through so much more than anyone can imagine," the happy mother says.

"I was literally bawling on my couch, like, inconsolably, that she would do this for me and my son," she admits.

Swift visited for a couple of hours, and was later spotted at a local Starbuck's, where she posed for pictures with several fans.
