The Band Perry earn one of the biggest audience reactions of the night with their performance of 'If I Die Young' at tonight's inaugural American Country Awards.

Lead singer Kimberly Perry, decked out in a pretty hot red velvet dress, led her brothers Reid and Neil, also probably wearing clothes, through a slightly slowed-down version of their current chart-topping hit that had the crowd waving their glow-sticks side to side in near complete unity.

The trio performed the song, which is much more life-affirming than its fatalistic and depressing title would initially suggest (as you can read in our Lyrics Uncovered story about the song) from atop a half-pyramid stacked at the front of the stage.  Their supporting drummer and fiddle player were banished, but not in a totally mean way, to a smaller platform in the back.

We're three-quarters of the way through the show at publishing time, and so far the young band, who also won the Best New Country Artist award prior to their performance, have gotten the loudest cheers of the night, a great sign for their future.
