R&B singer Damien both surprised and wowed 'The Voice' judges when he pulled out a country song for his Knockout Round battle on Monday night (Oct. 27). The Team Adam singer chose to cover LeAnn Rimes' 'How Do I Live,' and it paid off.

Damien battled powerhouse Toia Jones this week, and when he announced what he was planning to sing, mentor Taylor Swift seemed excited, saying the song is also her go-to karaoke tune.

"I’ve sung R&B, now I’m gonna sing country,” Damien said, explaining that he leans toward songs with deep meanings. The hopeful took the dimly-lit stage after an encouraging session with coach Levine and Swift, knowing he was expected to deliver an emotional performance. The crowd was into it, clapping along while he sang.

Meanwhile, Damien's competitor, Jones, truly delivered with Beyonce's 'Crazy in Love.' She brought the attitude and high energy, and Pharrell Williams even showed his support by standing during the song. Blake Shelton felt Jones was the obvious winner, but it wasn't up to him.

Despite her solid performance, Levine sent Jones home because he felt Damien is more prepared for what's to come. It was clear just by the look on Damien's face that he didn't think he would move on, but his Rimes cover won him another week on 'The Voice.'
