‘The Voice’ Champ Sundance Head Reveals His Wife’s Cancer Diagnosis
Sundance Head, who won The Voice in 2016 as part of team Blake Shelton, revealed on Wednesday (Aug. 21) that his wife Misty has been diagnosed with cancer.
The singer says that Misty was diagnosed with "cancer on her face," and doctors told her that it would need to be removed before causing further "issues" in her body. Misty underwent surgery, leaving her with a scar above her lip.
"She is healing now and we have been told they believe it was all removed," Head writes in an Instagram post, along with a photo of Misty's scar. "She will be going back for a follow-up soon to double check and make sure there is no more anywhere else in her body."
As he shared the news, Head also applauded the bravery his wife showed throughout the health ordeal.
"I will never understand the true strength of a woman," he goes on to say. "Even facing an uncertain outcome she continued to provide and nurture our family. I would have folded like a lawn chair.
"I've always said her beauty is her resilience. Such grace and resolve cannot be measured," Head concluded. "Lord thank you for keeping her safe on earth. We need her here."
The couple have been married for 18 years and share two children, 18-year-old Levi and 10-year-old Brazos. Head is also the son of blue-eyed soul singer Roy Head, who died in 2020.
In addition to his winning run on The Voice, Head was also a semi-finalist on Season 6 of American Idol.
