He remembered the highs and lows that he and his wife Denise have been through over their near-five-decade-long marriage, and spoke about how they're preparing to welcome their fifth grandchild any day now.

What Did Alan Jackson Say to His Family During His Final Show in Nashville?

Jackson described Denise as "a great partner for all we've been through."

"It's been a lot of stuff, and we've survived, and are happier than ever, thank goodness," he continued.

"We have three wonderful daughters and son-in-laws, and now we've got 4.75 grandchildren," Jackson said, as the crowd laughed and cheered. "One's due any minute. She's out there...I feel sad for her being here tonight, she's about to go into labor with all this sound going on. Anyway, in a matter of minutes, we'll have five grandchildren."

He then launched into an emotional performance of "I'd Love You All Over Again," which was a hit in 1991. The song is one of several from Jackson's discography that he wrote for his wife: He wrote it as a tribute to Denise on their 10th wedding anniversary.

Who Are Alan Jackson's Daughters + Grandchildren?

Alan and Denise Jackson are parents to three daughters: Mattie, Alexandra (Ali) and Dani. All three were there to witness the singer's final show.

The couple became grandparents for the first time in 2022 when Ali and her husband, Sam Bradshaw, welcomed son Jackson Alvie.

Mattie and her husband, Connor Smith, had their first baby — son Wesley Alan — in 2024, and a daughter — Charlotte "Charlie" Ann — in 2026.

Charlie's birth was the first in a baby boom that year for the Jackson family. In fact, all three of the Jackson daughters were pregnant at the same time! Just weeks after Mattie had her second child, Ali welcomed a daughter named Parker. Dani is also expecting to welcome a baby this year (sometime very soon, according to Jackson's statements at his show.)

It served as the finale to his last-ever concert tour, and the end to his touring career.

Why is Alan Jackson Retiring?

Alan Jackson has been dealing with an ongoing health issue for more than a decade.

The country icon revealed in 2021 that he had been living with a degenerative nerve condition called Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, which causes nerve damage, primarily in the arms and legs.

According to the Mayo Clinic, the Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease can cause muscle contractions and a loss of sensation, and make walking difficult.

Jackson also cited family concerns as a reason to step away from the live stage; his daughters are all grown now, and he and his wife, Denise, have two grandchildren.

“... I’m enjoying spending more time at home," he stated when he announced his all-star final show. "But my fans always show up to have a good time, and I’m going to give them the best show I can for this Last Call."
