Blake Shelton Rounds Out His ‘The Voice’ Team With Country Singer Adley Stump and the Sultry Lex Land
The blind auditions came to a close during Monday night's episode of 'The Voice,' as Blake Shelton added the final two members to Team Blake. The very nervous Lex Land and country newbie Adley Stump will join him when the battle rounds begin next week.
Both contestants came during the show's second half. Three of the four coaches turned for Land, who impressed viewers with her story of benevolence. She volunteers at a music camp because it makes her feel like she's making a difference. The entire scene left Shelton gasping for words and making sounds that until now, one figured only Miranda Lambert was privileged enough to hear.
It was sort of a gasping grunt, and Shelton said he need to finish to fully explain why he was the last of the three to turn around. “Blake, you’re so premature," Adam Levine said. In fact, it was that he noticed her three different styles during a version of Bonnie Raitt’s ‘I Can’t Make You Love Me' that forced Lex to choose Shelton.
Stump's decision was more predictable. The country singer chose Carrie Underwood's 'Last Name,' although she admitted to dancing to Christina Aguilera's 'Lady Marmalade' with her sorority sisters at Oklahoma State University. Viewers had to sit through a commercial break before it was official, but few were surprised she chose her fellow Oklahoman.
So now, each coach has 12 team members to begin next week's battle rounds. Contestants will square off against their teammates until the groups are whittled down to six members each. At that point the live viewer voting rounds will begin.
