Lead Actors Announced for ‘God Bless the Broken Road’ Movie
Rascal Flatts’ hit “Bless the Broken Road” is taking on a whole new dimension as a feature film later this year, and according to Billboard, the movie stars an NFL great as one of the lead characters.
LaDainian Tomlinson, NFL Network analyst and former star running back, will play a pastor trying to help a mom dealing with the loss of her husband, who was serving in Afghanistan, and trying to raise her daughter alone.
The faith-based film is being directed by Harold Cronk, who directed the faith-based movie God’s Not Dead, and it also features pop star Jordin Sparks, Arthur Cartwright and Lindsay Pulsipher, among others.
Country Stars Who Have Acted
“Bless the Broken Road” was originally recorded by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band in 1994, but was made famous in 2005 by Rascal Flatts when it was featured on their Feels Like Today album. It had also been recorded by one of its songwriters, Marcus Hummon, in 1995. Hummon, Bobby Boyd and Jeff Hanna won a Grammy for Best Country Song for the inspirational ballad.
Rascal Flatts recently released a Christmas album called The Greatest Gift of All and wrapped their Rhythm and Roots Tour with Kelsea Ballerini this past fall. The band says that after doing a residency in Las Vegas, they have been shaking things up a bit and exploring some new ways of sharing live music with fans.
"It’s really important to us that each year our shows are fresh and exciting for our fans,” Jay DeMarcus said about the tour in a press release. “We put a lot of thought into how to do that this year and mixing it up in Vegas was really fun so we decided to continue with this new change of pace out on the road this summer. We are so pumped because no one has ever seen Rascal Flatts like this before."
