Brad Paisley ‘Can’t Wait’ to Watch Carrie Underwood Host the CMA Awards
For the first time in more than a decade, a major change has been made in the hosting role at the CMA Awards—Carrie Underwood will return to host the 2019 CMA Awards, but longtime hosting partner Brad Paisley will not share the stage with her this November.
Underwood will work instead with two other legendary country females, Dolly Parton and Reba McEntire, in order to honor the iconic women of country music throughout the night. And that seems just fine with Paisley.
Recognizing that this particular year is all about girl power, Paisley noted, "As a fan of all 3 of these amazing women, I can’t wait to watch," on Twitter.
Although his sentiment seemed quite gracious, it's hard to deny that he's likely going to genuinely enjoy the show from the audience POV this year. How could he not, with such amazing talent on stage?
Plus, the fans—while overwhelmingly supportive of the change—are sweetening the situation for Paisley, leaving sweet comments on social media letting him know they will be very happy to have him return to his usual hosting gig. "We are excited too but you better be back," advised one fan, while multiple others called out, "Miss you!"
The 2019 CMA Awards air on ABC at 8PM ET on Nov. 13. Underwood and Paisley first co-hosted the CMAs in 2008 and quickly won hearts with an effortlessly comedic chemistry. Their 11-year run falls second to Vince Gill's 12 years as the shows host. McEntire is a veteran host at both the CMA Awards and ACM Awards, and Parton has hosting experience as well.
