Carly Pearce on Gwen Stefani: ‘She’s Just as Cool as You Would Think’
While embarking on Blake Shelton's 2018 Country Music Freaks Tour, Carly Pearce was lucky enough to score some coveted time with one of her music idols—who just happens to be Shelton's former fellow Voice coach and girlfriend, Gwen Stefani.
Though she admits she was "too scared" to ask the famed No Doubt star for any fashion tips, she assures fans that Stefani is just as glamorous as one would expect. "She is as awesome and rocker, bad girl as you would think, but also one of the most down-to-earth people in the whole world. She and Blake were so kind to me. They definitely gave me a lot of advice as a young, new artist and told me about their journeys," Pearce confessed to Taste of Country and other media during the No. 1 party for her first chart-topping hit, "Every Little Thing."
"But I will say Gwen Stefani looks just like when she's rolling out of her bus at 10AM on the Blake Shelton tour, as she does on stage. She's never not 'Gwen'd.' She's just as cool as you would think.""
And it sounds like the tour was true to its name with Brett Eldredge on the docket, who managed to turn the backstage area into his own personal improv theatre with his unpredictable antics.
"Edgar, Brett's dog, gets into everything and became a buddy of all of ours," Pearce noted of his adorable pup. "And on any given day, you might see Brett flying down the hallway past your dressing room on a remote control suitcase. It was kind of weird."
Shelton also brought his longtime friend Trace Adkins along for the ride, and it seems that their relationship is as genuine as it is funny. "Their friendship is really cute. They eat lunch every day together and hang out," Pearce said, calling Shelton "down-to-earth" and Adkins "hilarious in his own right."
"I don't know how to explain how much fun that tour was," she concluded. Sounds like was a blast, indeed!
Though the Country Music Freaks Tour has wrapped, Pearce has a hefty touring schedule for the rest of 2018, heading out with Luke Bryan on his What Makes You Country XL Tour in the summer before serving as an opening act on Thomas Rhett's Life Changes Tour and the Back to Us Tour with Rascal Flatts.
